Legal Information
A contribution to a Calvert Giving Fund represents an irrevocable tax-deductible contribution to Calvert Social Investment Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity. Contributions are nonrefundable, and become subject to Calvert Foundation's control and sole discretion, as are final determination on all grant distributions and investment of assets. There are a number of factors to consider when assessing the tax implications of gifts to charity of cash, and capital gains and the transfer of appreciate securities. Please read the Program Circular carefully, and consult with your tax specialist before making any donations. All information contained in this website is offered as of 2/01/07 and may be outdated at anytime thereafter.
We Value Your Right to Privacy
We value your right to privacy. To better protect your privacy, we offer this explanation of our online information practices and how your information is collected and utilized. We make this information easily available on our homepage and on every part of the Calvert Foundation site where we may request personally identifiable information.
The Information We Collect
This privacy statement applies to all information collected or submitted on the Calvert Foundation site. On some pages, you can register for information access and/or request materials. The types of personal information collected at these pages are:

- Email address
- Address
- Phone number
- Optional Demographics (i.e. occupation, gender, etc.)
- Interest Areas
Note that we do not collect social security information anywhere on our website.
The Way We Use Information
Calvert Foundation is the only owner of the information gathered on this site. We will not market this information in any manner to others. The Calvert Foundation collects information from our users at several different points on our website.
Website Usage Tracking
WebTrends Live is used to analyze traffic to this web site. WebTrends Live does not create individual profiles for visitors. Unlike some tracking services, WebTrends Live does not have a database of individual profiles for each visitor. WebTrends Live only collects aggregate data. Requesting an Investment Kit
We use the contact information (name and shipping address) you provide about yourself when requesting a community investment kit only to complete that request and send supplementary information in the future. If we have trouble processing a request, this contact information is used to get in touch with the user. We do not share this information with outside parties.
Newsletters
We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive and send out newsletters when requested. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.
Surveys
From time-to-time our site requests information from users via surveys. Participation in these surveys is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice to disclose information. Information requested may include demographic information (such as zip code, age level). Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use of and satisfaction with this site and/or Calvert Foundation products and services.
Send-To-A-Friend
If a user elects to send information from our site directly to a friend, we ask them for the friend's name and email address. Calvert Foundation will instantaneously and automatically send the friend this one-time email with the requested material (e.g. news article or profile) from the site. The Calvert Foundation does not store this information for future use.
Marketing Information
The marketing and demographic information (such as gender and income) we collect during information request or registration is optional, but encouraged so that we may gain a better understanding of our users, and so that we may serve them in a more personalized manner. This information is solely for internal use and will not be shared with outside parties.
We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website and to share with strategic partners. For example, we may tell a partner that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our website, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.
Finally, we never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
Our Commitment to Data Security
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.
When our registration form asks users to enter sensitive information, that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption techniques in the industry, including SSL.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user information off-line. All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Furthermore, All employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Any time new policies are added, our employees are notified and/or reminded about the importance we place on privacy, and what they can do to ensure our customers' information is protected. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment.

Cookies
We use cookies to enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. The "cookied" information is not pulled from the Calvert Foundation database.
Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Once the user closes their browser, the cookie simply terminates. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that the user will be limited in some areas of our site.
The following are the areas where we use cookies in order to simplify data entry:
- Address information when requesting an investment kit.
- E-mail when logging in.
- Name, e-mail, and interest areas when updating registration.
Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyze trends, administer the site, track users' movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Due to the sensitivity of address information, we do not make it available to view online, but it can be viewed by sending e-mail to foundation@calvertfoundation.org. We will then contact you to determine the best way of disclosing this information to you. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information.
Opt-Out
If at any time you would like your information to be modified or removed from our database, you may contact us directly via e-mail, phone, or post. If you would like to discontinue receiving supplementary information, you may also contact us with your instructions.
